How to convert
- Multiply the hourly rate by your hours in a week.
- Multiply by 52 for a year. Paid annual leave and public holidays are part of a salary, so keep 52 weeks.
- Divide by 26 for a fortnight or 12 for a month.
A full-time week in New Zealand is usually 40 hours. A salary of $65,000 works out at $31.25 an hour on 40 hours, or $33.33 on 37.5 hours. Compare job offers on the same number of hours.
If you are a casual paid 8% holiday pay on top of each hour, your effective rate is 108% of the base rate, but you get no paid time off.
