How your net pay is worked out
- EPF. 11% of your wage goes to KWSP, taken from the Third Schedule band and rounded up to the next ringgit. From 60 the employee share is 0%.
- SOCSO. 0.5% for Employment Injury and Invalidity cover, plus 0.75% for LINDUNG 24 Jam, on pay up to RM6,000.
- EIS. 0.2% of pay up to RM6,000, for employees aged 18 to 60.
- PCB. Your employer estimates your tax for the whole year with the LHDN formula, after the RM9,000 individual relief and up to RM4,000 of EPF relief, then divides it across the months left. Zakat paid through payroll is taken off PCB.
On RM5,000 a month a single employee takes home RM4,268.20. The same salary for a married employee whose spouse does not work, with two children, leaves RM4,308.20 because PCB falls to RM70.00. PCB starts at around RM3,780 a month for a single employee; below that the reliefs and the RM400 rebate cover the tax.
What changed in 2026
LINDUNG 24 Jam, PERKESO's cover for accidents outside work, started with June 2026 wages. It is paid by employees only, at 0.75% of wages up to RM6,000, rising to 1% from June 2028. Malaysian employees could opt out between 13 July to 31 August 2026; foreign workers cannot. Income tax rates for YA 2026 are the same as in YA 2025, and EPF employee and employer rates did not change.
What your employer adds
Your employer pays 13% EPF on wages up to RM5,000 and 12% above it, plus 1.75% SOCSO and 0.2% EIS. On RM8,000 a month that adds RM1,076.05, so the job costs RM9,076.05 a month.
Your payslip can differ by a few ringgit: bonuses, allowances, benefits in kind, TP1 relief claims and a mid-year start all change PCB.
FAQ
How much is RM3,000 salary after deductions in Malaysia?
RM2,627.20 a month for a single employee below 60: RM330.00 EPF, RM36.90 SOCSO including LINDUNG 24 Jam, RM5.90 EIS and RM0.00 PCB.
What is the net salary for RM10,000 a month?
RM7,884.50 for a single employee. EPF takes RM1,100.00 and PCB RM929.20; SOCSO and EIS stop rising above the RM6,000 ceiling.
Does the calculator include my employer’s EPF?
It is shown below your net pay but not deducted, because your employer pays it on top of your salary: 13% up to RM5,000 and 12% above.
Why is my PCB different from the calculator?
PCB depends on what your employer knows: bonuses, allowances, benefits, reliefs you declared on form TP1 and the month you joined. Your final tax is settled when you file Form BE, and PCB is only a prepayment towards it.
Is LINDUNG 24 Jam compulsory?
It is compulsory for foreign workers. Malaysian employees who did not opt out between 13 July to 31 August 2026 are covered and pay 0.75% of wages up to RM6,000. Tick the box if you opted out.
