Questions
How do I convert an hourly rate to a salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by your weekly hours, then by 52. At 38 hours a week, $40 an hour is $79,040 a year.
Why 38 hours?
The National Employment Standards set 38 ordinary hours a week for full-time employees, plus reasonable additional hours.
Should casual rates be compared directly with salaries?
Not quite. Casual rates include a loading (usually 25%) in place of paid leave, so a casual hourly rate converts to a higher salary than the equivalent permanent job really pays.
